About the Role
This is an excellent opportunity for a Head of Projects & Programme Delivery to join Facilities Management and lead a robust, end-to-end project and programme delivery function for the University. The role oversees the delivery of approved maintenance, lifecycle, and capital investment programmes, providing assurance to the Estates Infrastructure Board and Executive that projects are achievable, well governed, appropriately resourced, and represent value for money.
You will lead the University’s Property Investment Programme, covering backlog maintenance, lifecycle replacement, infrastructure resilience, and capital development. A key responsibility is translating approved funding into a prioritised, integrated three- to five-year programme aligned with strategic priorities and long-term estate sustainability.
The post holder will embed consistent programme management frameworks and oversee governance, risk, financial control, and performance reporting. You will ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to agreed standards of quality and sustainability. Strategic leadership for asset management and lifecycle planning is essential, using estate data and condition insights to inform evidence-based investment decisions and reduce estate risk.
You will also design and implement a fit-for-purpose delivery model, strengthening internal capability and reducing reliance on external consultants. The role includes oversight of master planning, BIM, digital estate systems, and smart campus initiatives, working collaboratively with Estates Operations, Finance, academic colleagues, professional services, and student stakeholders.
For informal enquiries, please contact Adrian McGillion, Director of Facilities Management, at Adrian.McGillion@edgehill.ac.uk. While external applicants are welcome, internal applications will be prioritised.
About You
You are an experienced senior professional with a strong track record of leading complex estates, infrastructure, or capital programmes within large, multi-stakeholder environments. You understand the scale, compliance, and risk considerations of higher education or comparable public-sector estates and can manage significant investment programmes with confidence.
You bring expertise in asset management, lifecycle planning, programme governance, financial oversight, and senior-level reporting. You use estate data and condition information to shape sustainable, long-term investment priorities.
A collaborative, values-driven leader, you provide clear professional advice to senior stakeholders, build trusted relationships across academic and professional services, and lead teams and partners with integrity and accountability.
We welcome applications from all sections of society and value the strength a diverse workforce brings.
