The University of Wolverhampton’s Strategy 2035, Creating Opportunity, Transforming Futures, places Student Success at the centre of our mission. As a civic university and anchor institution, we are committed to transforming lives, creating skilled employment opportunities and supporting inclusive regional growth. We are now seeking an experienced and commercially minded Business Development Manager to lead the expansion of highquality professional development placements that enhance student engagement, satisfaction and graduate employability.
In this pivotal role, you will develop and strengthen strategic partnerships with employers, health trusts, local authorities and major regional organisations to embed meaningful virtual and inperson placements within the curriculum. Working collaboratively across faculties and with teams in Research, Enterprise and Development (RED) and Marketing, you will align placement growth with workforce needs and emerging skills gaps, ensuring students gain the experience, confidence and capabilities required to thrive in a competitive labour market.
You will have a proven track record of cultivating senior-level partnerships, delivering against ambitious performance targets and influencing effectively within complex stakeholder environments. With strong commercial acumen, political awareness and a genuine commitment to social mobility and inclusive growth, you will play a key role in strengthening the University’s position as a sector-leading institution for business engagement, innovation and civic impact.
If you are driven by creating opportunities, shaping strategic relationships and making a tangible difference to students, employers and the region, we would be delighted to hear from you.
Interviews for this position will take place on Thursday 19th March 2026.
