Do you have a passion for innovative teaching and helping students develop the linguistic and intercultural skills needed to succeed in a global world? At The University of Law, we’re looking for a Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in French Language to join our Modern Languages team.

A New Language Programmeat the University of Law 

The Language Programme is a new initiative within the Academic Development and Research department at the University of Law. Students at the University of Law can study a range of disciplines, including Business, Computer Science, Criminology, Law, Policing, and Psychology. The purpose of the Language Programme is to enrich the student experience by offering high-quality language and intercultural learning opportunities in Spanish, French and German alongside students’ degrees, either for credit or as additional non-credit modules. In addition, the non-credited provision will be available to staff, alumni, and members of the general public.

As Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in German Language, you will design and deliver online German language teaching across extracurricular courses, credited undergraduate modules and self‑access learning units. You will create innovative learning materials, support students’ progress, and contribute to the development of an inclusive, learner‑centred programme.

As our Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in German Language, you will:

  • Design high‑quality online and in-person teaching and learning material aligned with the CEFR and teach German courses online.
  • Develop teaching and assessment materials for self‑access, extracurricular and credited modules.
  • Provide constructive feedback to support learner engagement and progression.
  • Contribute to course evaluation, quality enhancement and programme development.
  • Work closely with the Head of Modern Languages and other colleagues across the university to ensure a coherent and high‑quality learning experience.

We are looking for people who have:

  • Degree‑level education in languages (or equivalent professional experience).
  • German language proficiency at C1 level or above.
  • A successful track record of teaching German in higher education.
  • Experience in designing learning materials and confidence using VLEs and digital teaching tools.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
