The University of Hertfordshire is opening a new Medical School with the first cohort of students starting in September 2026. There is currently a motivated academic and clinical core team, developing, adopting and adapting the MBBS curriculum in line with City St George’s Medical School, University of London, who are our sponsor. We are now seeking to expand our team to implement the curriculum in preparation for the arrival of our students. Newly appointed staff will receive full support from our existing team.

Main duties and responsibilities

The role of the MBBS Module Lead for Life Support is to academically lead, plan, operationalise and contribute to the quality assurance of content relating to the Introductory modules in the clinical sciences years of the MBBS Programme.

Skills and experience required

The successful candidate will have experience in teaching and curriculum development at the undergraduate/postgraduate level (preferably clinical/medical education), project supervision of undergraduate/postgraduate students and experience of assessment, including discursive, academic writing.

You will be able to demonstrate a commitment to innovation in teaching and learning, with a willingness to embrace new methods and technologies. You will have the ability to assist in curriculum design, implementation, assessment and promotion of the course, alongside strong organisational and administrative skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Qualifications required

You will be educated with a postgraduate qualification in a relevant basic science discipline or an MBBS with relevant clinical experience.

In the course of our work and University-led activities, there may be external contractual obligations where a further Enhanced Check is required. DBS checks may require renewal in line with policy.
