The Role
You will join the Graduate Research School as a key part of the team supporting research degree programmes and ensuring an excellent experience for our postgraduate researchers. You’ll take the lead on managing the examination and award processes, maintaining accurate records, liaising with examiners, supervisors and students, and supporting key committees. You’ll keep our information up to date across digital platforms and help refine processes that improve efficiency and consistency. Working closely with colleagues across the University, you’ll help ensure each research student progresses smoothly from registration to conferment of their degree.
The Person
You will bring strong administrative experience, excellent attention to detail and confidence working with complex information. You’ll be highly proficient in Microsoft applications such as MS Forms, Excel and PowerAutomate, comfortable learning new systems, and experienced in tools that support automation and process efficiency. You will communicate clearly, build positive working relationships, and thrive in a role where accuracy, organisation and good judgement are essential. With a proactive approach, you will enjoy improving processes, supporting people, and contributing to the smooth running of research degree administration.
Directorate/Function
You will be joining an experienced Graduate Research School team - Professor Priscilla Harries, Head of GRS, Rachel Graham the Graduate School Manager and Marie Withers Senior Co-ordinator – Training and Development. The team is based at Penrhyn Road campus in the Research and Innovation Directorate Offices. We support the faculties in their delivery of Post Graduate Research Student programmes.
The Academic Services Directorate includes Research & Impact, Knowledge Exchange, Academic Registry, Quality Assurance and Enhancement, the Learning and Teaching Enhancement Centre, Brand, Communications and Public Affairs and Development, Alumni Relations & Engagement (DARE).
We actively liaise with faculties and researchers to support and develop research activities across all disciplines and provide related training and development opportunities. We foster interdisciplinary working to promote, advance and share knowledge with the overall aim of securing new revenue sources and contributing to regional prosperity. Our goal is to foster and sustain a vibrant research culture in which our researchers and research students can flourish.

This is a part-time (29.60 hours per week), 12 months fixed-term position with a starting salary of £31,525.60 per annum (80% pro rata of £39,407.00 per annum).
