Job Description:
The College’s Deputy Academic Dean helps to provide senior academic leadership at Global College Malta and reports to the College’s Academic Dean.
The Deputy Academic Dean provides day-to-day management of all College teaching, learning and assessment, as well as assisting with the line management of teaching staff. They lead on ensuring an excellent student experience at the College and work closely with the Academic Team on matters of academic regulations, policy and procedures.
They report directly to the College’s Academic Dean and, as appropriate, provide support to the Chief Operating Officer in giving strategic leadership for the College and ensuring its academic excellence, operational efficiency, and long-term sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:
Academic and Professional Qualifications
Strong Academic Background:
A good degree in a relevant Business and Management discipline and a record of leadership in teaching, research, and/or professional practice. A doctoral level qualification would be an advantage.
Demonstrable experience of acting in an academic managerial position in a recognised higher education institution is essential.
Higher Education Expertise:
A good knowledge of Maltese and European higher education policies and practices and a comprehensive understanding of higher education culture and governance.
Strategic Vision:
The ability to formulate and implement strategy, contribute to the College’s vision, and operate effectively within a fast-moving organisational environment.
Leadership and Management Skills
Staff Leadership:
Proven experience in leading, managing and developing academic staff, with the ability to inspire and empower academic teaching team members and professional academic support staff.
Financial Management:
Substantial experience of budget planning and financial management, including the ability to manage budgets and contribute to financial strategy.
Change Management:
Demonstrable ability to help lead organisational and cultural change, respond to external environments, and foster innovative approaches to academic delivery.
Teamwork and Collaboration:
The ability to work flexibly as part of a team and build effective collaborations both internally and externally.
Communication and Interpersonal Skills
Communication:
Excellent communication, presentation, and influencing skills, with the ability to present complex data and engage diverse audiences effectively.
Renumeration:
The salary for this role will be Euro 60,000. No relocation or other expenses are provided.
