Are you an experienced Contextual Practice Tutor (Musical Theatre) with background teaching in Higher Education or Further Education settings?
Are you driven by making connections between performance and creative practice(s), aligned with an academic engagement?
Would you relish the opportunity to work as a sessional tutor in the Department of Contextual Practice at one of Britain’s leading performing arts institutions?
We’re looking for inspiring tutors to join our Contextual Practice team on a sessional basis from April 2026, delivering classes and assessing student work across our Musical Theatre degree courses (Levels 4 to 6) and diploma courses (Level 6). We anticipate being able to offer c15 contact hours per-week, spread across two days, during term-time, making the opportunity ideally suited to an experienced teacher (or postgraduate student) to sit alongside a portfolio career or teaching elsewhere in the sector.
Working closely with our Head of Department (Contextual Practice, Musical Theatre and Dance), you’ll foster a strong link between theory and practice to help ensure graduates emerge from their studies and enter the profession as critically engaged practitioners and well-rounded thinkers.
Your conversance with the musical theatre canon of the 20th and 21st centuries, combined with your insights and secure background in literary, creative (Practice as Research) and critical theories, will mark you out as a strong candidate for the role. In addition, your experience in learning, teaching and assessment activities reflective of HE and FE educational contexts will support the academic positioning of the department.
Join us! And make a meaningful and lasting contribution to the Musical Theatre performers of tomorrow.
