Director of CLPD

Asian University for Women – Center of Leadership and Professional Development

Reports to: President and CEO, AUW Support Foundation

The Center of Leadership and Professional Development (CLPD) is an innovative unit within AUW that works to prepare, equip, and network dynamic AUW students and graduates globally to achieve their career objectives. In addition to a quality academic experience, students have access to a variety of resources to support their professional and academic development at AUW. The Assistant Director of CLPD is expected to carry out the following tasks:

  • Developing a strategy for career planning and leadership training for students in the university.
  • Developing and directs and rolls out a comprehensive professional development program aiming at preparing students for graduate schools, jobs and entrepreneurial ventures. The focus of these programs and services is to develop, sustain and continually improve a career development model that can be implemented for each student.
  • Coordinating with the senior management and faculty in developing and maintaining relationship with external stakeholders, like corporates, exchange partners etc.
  • Overseeing and ensuring proper and timely processing of the implementation of the international exchange programs, internships and other such opportunities for AUW students and graduates.
  • Consulting and working closely with the IPB Chair (International Promotion Board) of the university in smooth roll out and selection for the international exchange programs, internships and other such opportunities for the students and graduates of AUW.
  • Consulting with academic deans and faculty colleagues to ensure that programs and services address student needs, and coordinates with the faculty in identifying opportunities to bridge the skills gaps.
  • Ensuring effective alumnae relationship, managing and tracking graduate outcomes and managing the alumnae database on AUW ERP.
  • Ensuring conducting regular surveys among students to understand and map their career expectations.
  • Planning and implementing various events and activities (campus-based, industry-based, career fairs, seminars, presentations, workshops, alumni networking events, etc.), and works with colleagues responsible for communications to develop high quality materials for publicity through online, print materials and publish newsletters.
  • Leading the team at the Center for Leadership and Professional Development (CLPD), and manages and oversees administration of the Center. Guides, monitors and evaluates the team members.
  • Working with the AUWSF and support them with reports from the department as and when required.
  • Preparing Center’s budget and other resources and oversees expenses within the budget and norms of the university.

Required Education: Minimum of Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree preferred.

Required Experience:

  • Ideally minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in career development, counseling, student affairs, human resources or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Experience developing and administering programs, seminars and events, and experience producing training and educational materials related to career development required.
  • Experience and working in a diverse or multicultural work environment Experience in professional development and training will be an added advantage

Required Skills:

  • Good command over English both written and oral Excellent communication, presentation and writing skills required. Should be proficient with MS Excel, MS Power point and G Suite.
