Job description:
Working Pattern: 100% FTE
We have an exciting opportunity in the School of Mechanical, Aerospace and Civil Engineering to join the Metastra European Commission / Innovate UK funded project on transforming fracture risk assessment for cancer patients with vertebral metastases - a collaborative project between 17 European partners.
We are seeking candidates with, or close to completing, a PhD related to biomechanics, with a solid knowledge of finite element modelling, and a strong experience in developing patient-specific biomechanical computational model. You will be working with other research associates to develop and validate the computational models and decision support system, and therefore excellent communication skills are required. Experience of working collaboratively across a multidisciplinary team is desirable. Candidates will need to be creative and flexible in their approach to the study, and work with external partners to share knowledge developed through the project.
What We Offer
You will join the group of Prof. Damien Lacroix and Prof. Enrico Dall’Ara. Our biomechanics group within the University has an international and interdisciplinary profile and a strong commitment to clinical and industrial translation with impact in future healthcare. We are active in biomechanics and mechanobiology of the neuromusculoskeletal systems. We have access to a fully equipped human movement analysis laboratory, a tissue testing/mechanobiology laboratory, and ex vivo and in vivo microCT imaging.
