About Graduate Teaching Assistantships
GTA studentships allow research students to fund their PhD through part-time teaching work with the University. Successful candidates are required to undertake teaching or other duties within Economics normally not exceeding six to seven contact hours per week during term time—while conducting research leading to the successful completion of a PhD.
As part of PhD training, GTAs’ teaching supports undergraduate and postgraduate students’ learning in tutorials and seminars, focusing on knowledge development and the application of principles set out in lectures and course materials. Training and support are provided to help them develop teaching related skills and enhance professional competencies. GTAs are responsible to the Head of School.
Entry requirements and application
The studentships are open to UK and Overseas applicants.
Applicants are required to hold a UK Bachelor Degree with at least a 2:1 and a Master's Degree or overseas equivalent. The University of Leicester English language requirements apply.
Applicants should prepare their Research proposal using our Proposal Form.
