Location: Sha Tin - Hong Kong
Salary: Competitive
Hours: Full Time
Contract Type: Temporary
Placed On: 2nd March 2026
Closes: 31st March 2026

The Faculty of Law at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK LAW) is among the most dynamic and accomplished law schools in Asia. Since welcoming its inaugural cohort in 2006, CUHK LAW’s achievements in research and education have been internationally recognized. This recognition is further reflected in the most recent Research Assessment Exercise (2020) conducted by the Hong Kong University Grants Committee, where CUHK LAW’s research strength was underscored by an impressive 83% of its research activities being rated as “world-leading” (4*) or “internationally significant” (3*). With a strong global outlook, our academic staff represent nearly twenty jurisdictions through their origins or training.

The Opportunity

CUHK LAW offers funded visiting positions to outstanding early career scholars to participate in short-term academic visits of four days’ duration at our campus in Hong Kong.

Visiting Scholars will engage in several activities during their visit, such as:

  • Delivering a public lecture or research seminar;
  • Meeting with faculty members and PhD students to discuss research projects;
  • Participating in workshops, roundtables, or other academic events; and
  • Engaging with students through guest teaching, mentoring opportunities, and other proposed activities.

The visits will take place between 1 September 2026 and 30 June 2027, excluding December 2026 and the week of the Chinese New Year holiday (6-12 February 2027). Specific dates will be arranged in consultation with the selected Visiting Scholars and CUHK LAW.

CUHK LAW provides financial support for the selected Visiting Scholars, including a round trip economy-class airfare, accommodation for three nights, and courteous support to cover local travel and meals. CUHK LAW will ordinarily purchase flight tickets and arrange accommodation on behalf of the Visiting Scholars.

Eligibility

The programme is open to early-career scholars in any field of law who:

  • Currently hold an academic teaching position at an early or mid-career stage (such as Lecturer, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or equivalent);
  • Have received an advanced law degree (such as a PhD, SJD, JSD, or equivalent); and
  • Have produced high-quality scholarship.

Application Procedure

Applicants should complete the online application form and upload a cover letter (maximum of three pages) and a full curriculum vitae via the 'Apply' button above by 31 March 2026.

The cover letter should specify the proposed activities for the visit, including titles and abstracts for presentations and other academic events, and indicate the applicant’s preferred timing for the visit.

Applicants will be informed about the outcome by email by 1 June 2026.
