Knowledge Exchange Partnerships at Edinburgh Napier University have an applied focus and are of both national and international relevance. The Knowledge Exchange activity at ENU has been assessed as 'internationally excellent' and 'world-leading', giving us a top position among Scotland's Modern universities for both commercial relevance and impact.

As such, we are currently partnering with Democracy Counts, a UK-based provider of comprehensive electoral management software and services, to recruit a KTP Associate in Cryptography who will have the opportunity to expand their research through publishing research papers and patients, and assist with the development of trusted end-to-end verification for citizens and candidates in the electoral registration process in the UK.

The Role:

The KTP Associate on this project will be a crucial part of the team and as someone with a background in Computer Science and experience of successful implementation of software projects, you will be in an excellent position to carry out coding within relevant cryptographic areas and help us with implementation and evaluation of this new software.

We expect that you will have a passion for cryptography and a keen interest in the implementation of new products and services in this space, so this role will allow you to and collaborate with researchers from the Blockpass ID Lab and develop code in respect to the analysis of cryptography methods.

Your excellent communication and report writing skills will also come in useful as you present your work to external stakeholders in the form of presentations and reports and attend project meetings.

This is a unique chance for you to get involved in supporting the delivery of free, fair and transparent assured elections in the UK, with this innovative technology helping to solve the challenges associated with the perception of security, maintaining the integrity of elections and accessibility using technology, and the participation and engagement of under-represented groups.

Whilst this is a three-month contract to complete a previous KTP project, the industry partner is keen for the role to become permanent (based on the successful progress).

If you have a passion and desire to make a positive difference and have the appropriate skills to carry out this role, then we would love to hear from you.
