Job description:

Overview

Reporting to the Network Manager, you will play a key role in developing and delivering the communications and marketing activities for the BRIDGES for Dementia Network+, a national EPSRC-funded research network hosted at the University of Sheffield, and involving 7 other UK universities.

This is a part-time role (1 day per week) supporting the Network’s engagement with academic and clinical researchers, people with dementia and their carers, and partner organisations. The role can be worked on a hybrid basis; though regular in-office attendance will also be required. It would suit someone already undertaking a marketing or communications role at the University of Sheffield.

The Network’s aim is to bring together people with lived experience of dementia, researchers, designers, and health professionals to co-develop technologies and practices that help people with dementia live full, connected and independent lives.

Your work will focus on building visibility, engagement and participation across the network, ensuring our outputs and opportunities are shared widely and accessibly. For informal enquiries, please contact neil.lowrie@sheffield.ac.uk

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver a communications plan to engage the network’s target audiences, including researchers, clinicians, people with dementia, carers, and supporting organisations.
  • Create and distribute a monthly newsletter using Mailchimp (or equivalent platform).
  • Curate and collate relevant news, events, and opportunities from within the network and the wider dementia research and practice community.
  • Maintain and update the BRIDGES website (WordPress), including adding news items, event details and outputs.
  • Manage and grow the BRIDGES LinkedIn account and consider expanding to other relevant social media platforms.
  • Develop a printed newsletter suitable for people with dementia and their carers, ensuring accessibility and inclusivity.
  • Liaise with other dementia networks and groups to share and promote opportunities, workshops, and events.
  • Support the organisation and delivery of network workshops, including printing materials, and pre and post-event communications.
  • Monitor and evaluate engagement metrics (e.g., network membership growth, newsletter subscribers, LinkedIn engagement).
  • Ensure consistency of tone, branding and accessibility across all communications materials.
  • Undertake other duties commensurate with the grade and remit of the post.
