The new Department of Media, Culture and Creative Industries draws together academic staff specialising in Advertising, Creative Writing, Cultural and Creative Industries, English, Media and Communications, Marketing Communication, Media Management, Media Production, Publishing, PR and Strategic Communication. The successful applicant will have line management experience (or the demonstrated ability to lead large teams). The principal purpose of the Deputy HoD role is to assist the Head of Department in providing effective leadership and management of the department as well as in contributing to day-to-day operation of the department.
In addition, the successful candidate will play a leading, professorial-level role in teaching and researching in an area of media and communications that complements the offerings of the department. The MCCI Department is known for its applied, industry-focussed research; the research and teaching of the successful candidate should be aimed at solving pressing problems in the media and communications industry and helping students gain a foothold in the industry as critical practitioners.
Although the precise area of experti se is open, the successful candidate’s research should complement and enhance the profile of the Department. Areas of the department we currently seek to strengthen include:
We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed teacher able to teach a full palette of modules across our UG and PGT media and communications degrees and engage and enthuse a diverse student body that includes international students as well as students from widening participation backgrounds.
