Fuyao University of Science and Technology ( FYUST, website) is a new private research university located in Fuzhou, China. It was established with the generous donation of a globally renowned entrepreneur Mr. CAO Tak Wong, officially approved by the Ministry of Education in February 2025.

FYUST aims to pursue cutting-edge scientific discovery and technological innovation grounded in humanistic values and social responsibility. About School

School of Intelligent Manufacturing & Future Technologies (SIMFT) advances robotics and intelligent manufacturing with strong ties to the industry. The school currently has a total of 30 full-time faculty members, including 2 fellows of Canadian Academy of Engineering. The research focuses include: intelligent / smart manufacturing; intelligent product design; planning and scheduling; product quality control; equipment monitoring and maintenance; intelligent robotics; embodied intelligence; unmanned systems; and integrated circuit. The school operates several laboratories including the Key Laboratory of Future Intelligent Manufacturing Technologies for High-end Equipment authorised by the Ministry of Education, and five joint laboratories with major industrial partners.

Responsibilities:

  • Conducting impactful research, publishing scholarly work, securing external funding to support research and laboratory activities
  • Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, mentoring and advising undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students
  • Providing academic services through committee work, peer review, and curriculum development
  • Engaging professionally with the robotics and automation community via conferences, editorial roles, and collaborations
  • Upholding research integrity, safety, and institutional standards. 

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in Robotics and Automation, Control Science & Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Instrumentation Science & Technology, Integrated Circuits, or related areas by the date of appointment
  • Demonstrated excellence in research and teaching; alignment with school priorities
  • Track record of high-impact publications and/or industrial collaboration 

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Annual Package: Assistant Professor: £43k - £87k; Associate Professor: £65k - £109k; Professor: £76k - £130k; Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
  • Research support: Startup and ongoing research funding (case-by-case based on profile)
  • Facilities: Well-equipped offices; state-of-the-art laboratories; ample lab space; core facilities

  • Visa & family support: Visa sponsorship; support for children’s education
  • Government talent programs: FYUST actively supports applications to eligible provincial/municipal talent programs (e.g., settlement allowances, housing subsidies), subject to policies and eligibility
