We are looking for a specialist technician with significant experience in carpentry and furniture making to join our 3D Technical team.
You will be based in the wood workshop supporting a variety of Design, Fine Art and Performance students, all with differing making mindsets.
You will be responsible for providing professional expertise, guidance and advice, to students which contribute to the delivery of course and project learning outcomes whilst supporting students' creative intentions.
There should be a focus on sharing knowledge with students with a goal to make the workshop as accessible, welcoming and inclusive as possible. Safety is key in this creative learning and making environment, and you will be required to engage in health and safety protocols, regular maintenance, and share best practice with students.
About you
The ideal candidate will have certified and comprehensive experience in fabrication through different workflows in woodwork and related fabrication methods, evidencing demonstrable knowledge in professional manufacturing practices and processes. Desirable experience would include an established background in furniture or cabinetry making.
Key to the role is clear communication skills, excellent planning and organisation and an enthusiasm for working as part of a wider team.
You will be able to organise and manage busy workloads effectively, managing multiple priorities, whilst maintaining an excellent student experience, best practice and health and safety requirements.
You will be able to demonstrate experience in leading a team and guiding a range of learning styles in order realise projects or creative intentions.
