The Oxford-Hyundai Motor Group Foresight Centre is a major research centre located within the University of Oxford’s Saïd Business School. Funded through a generous research sponsorship from Hyundai Motor Group, the Centre is led by Oxford strategy faculty Rafael Ramirez (Director) and Trudi Lang. (Co-Director). Focusing on a discrete set of high-impact themes, the Centre contributes significant new research to the scholarly understanding of how foresight is conducted to inform business strategy, while also producing impactful outputs for practitioners. 

The Centre seeks to recruit two Research Assistants, with one post commencing in May 2026 and the other around June-July 2026. Reporting to, and under the direction of, the Centre Directors, and working with other relevant members of the Centre such as post-doctoral scholars, the post holder will be responsible for supporting the delivery of various foresight research projects the Centre will be undertaking. 
 
This is an excellent opportunity to gain academic research experience and to learn from leading academics. 
 
The ideal candidate for this role will have a background in qualitative social science research, such as literature reviews, surveys, interviews, thematic analyses, researching and writing up case studies, data presentation, etc. Candidates also proficient in quantitative methods will be highly valued, but such skills are not essential. 
 
The postholder will be a member of the Saïd Business School’s research community with access to internal research seminars and other professional development opportunities. Responsibilities The postholder will work with the Director and Co Director, post-doctoral scholars and the Centre Manager, to ensure high quality and timely research support is delivered across the Centre’s research activities. 
 
The successful candidate will undertake a range of research activities, such as: 
  • literature searches and reviews 
  • supporting academic workshops 
  • preparing high quality materials such as posters, briefing decks, infographics 
  • formulating observation proformas and undertaking observations or focus groups 
  • setting up surveys in web-based survey tools and collecting online data 
  • support in developing and writing up case studies 
  • coding transcripts which may include developing high-quality code for data preparation and data analysis using commonly used computer languages
  • carrying out descriptive data work including visualisations/plotting 
  • preparing and documenting meetings and conferences 
  • editing drafts of papers and slides for meetings or conference presentations, etc. 
  • developing, maintaining, and updating research databases and code repositories 
  • supporting the formatting and design of different types of publications
