Salary: Combined University and college salary: £56,535 - £75,915 per annum. An additional allowance (currently £3,199 per annum) would be made upon award of the title of Professor. An Oxford Living Subsidy of £21,567 is also available.
The University of Oxford, in association with Christ Church, proposes to appoint an Associate Professor of Music with effect from 1 October 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter. This is a joint appointment: the person appointed to the Associate Professorship will also be appointed to an Official Studentship (Tutorial Fellowship) at Christ Church and will be a member of its Governing Body and a trustee of the college.
Candidates must hold a doctorate, normally in music or a closely related discipline, already awarded at the time of application.
The University and the college are seeking a musicologist with a proven record of scholarship and research in art music of the twentieth century that complements existing Faculty interests. The appointee will be required to teach at both undergraduate and graduate levels. They should also be able to undertake the supervision of research students and play an active role in faculty and college administration.
