Research Associate in Inclusive Neurotechnology Design

Job description:

We have an exciting opportunity at the University of Sheffield for someone passionate about promoting inclusivity in neurotechnology. If you want to use your skills in computational modelling, statistical analysis, qualitative research and community engagement to tackle inequities and shape healthcare innovation, this is the role for you.

You will join the Brain-computer Interface Laboratory, a leading team internationally recognised for ground-breaking research in neurotechnology and inclusivity. Your work will strengthen our research profile and help ensure neurotechnologies are designed to be accessible and equitable for all.

In this role, you will:

• Apply computational modelling and statistical analysis to assess nanotechnology performance across diverse populations.
• Organise and facilitate meaningful Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) sessions.
• Lead qualitative and quantitative research exploring barriers to neurotechnology adoption in marginalised communities.
• Co-develop actionable solutions to improve neurotechnology design, accessibility, and inclusivity.

This role offers a chance to work in a multidisciplinary team, collaborate with diverse stakeholders, and contribute to impactful research that drives real world change.

We are looking for candidates with a PhD (or nearing completion) in neuroscience, biomedical engineering, or a related field. You’ll have strong expertise in computational modelling, statistical analysis, and qualitative research, along with experience organising PPIE sessions. A solid understanding of Equality, Diverse, and Inclusion (ED) principles is essential.
