This new full-time post is available from May 2026 on a fixed term contract until April 2027.

The post

The Faculty wishes to recruit a full time Postdoctoral Research Associate to support the work of Professor Xiaohong Li. The post is available from 01 May 2026 to 30 April 2027. The project is funded by EPSRC Place Based Impact Acceleration Account GW-SHIFT Programme (Great Western Supercluster of Hydrogen Impact for Future Technologies).

The project aims to explore opportunities and challenges of the integration of anaerobic digestion into a multi vector energy system with green hydrogen as the central pillar for maritime application and sustainable aviation fuels, with particular focus on the South West of England and South Wales region. The project is in close collaboration with industry partners including HydroStar Europe and local SMEs within the GW-SHIFT community.  

About you

The successful applicant will act as project coordinator, undertaking the core research programme and monitoring day-to-day activities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required to deliver and disseminate high-impact project across industry, civic and societal sectors, and to organise workshop and public engagement activities by bringing together regional and national stakeholders for knowledge exchange and capacity building across the regional hydrogen ecosystem.

Applicants will possess a relevant PhD (or nearing completion) or possess an equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study and be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge in the discipline and of research methods and techniques to work within established research programmes.
