The role
An opportunity has arisen for an NVQ level 2 or B. Tec qualified Mechanical Maintenance Fitter to join the Clifton Campus Reactive Maintenance team. The role is to carry out reactive repairs and planned preventative maintenance on mechanical building services and systems across the University campus.
The postholder will be a representative for the University and the Building Services maintenance department, liaising with a variety of stakeholders to provide minimal disruption to services.
What will you be doing?
General reactive and preventative maintenance (PPM) tasks will include but not be limited to local plumbing & heating issues, water leaks, ventilation faults, air conditioning, blocked toilets & sinks etc. Undertake routine checking of equipment to ensure safety and efficiency.
Respond to call outs and carry out reactive maintenance tasks under minimal supervision, ensuring customers are kept updated with the progress of any repairs. Ensure that all work undertaken is carried out in a safe, cost effective, efficient manner and in full compliance with all current regulations. Keep up to date with current legislation applicable to the post and any further training that is required.
Investigate reported faults and issues, engineer a solution to ensure safety or escalate where necessary. Carryout root cause analysis of failed equipment and systems to prevent re-occurrence of issues and to ensure safe and effective future use.
Use the computerised maintenance management system (Planon) to obtain and record details of each job. Respond and attend to faults and alarms automatically generated by the Building Management System (BMS).
Assist the Maintenance Managers in making decisions related to future prevention of reported problems and improvements to building services. Understand and interpret schematic wiring diagrams and engineering drawings and specifications.
Liaise with colleagues across the wider University to communicate site faults, solutions, and consequences from reported issues.
