Background
This position is based in the Careers & Employability Directorate. The Directorate is pivotal in supporting City St. George’s to deliver a student experience that combines academic excellence with a focus on employability. Studying at City St. George’s enables our graduates to develop the intellectual capacity, skills and personal attributes required to move into the graduate position they desire, while also fostering the mindset and attitude necessary to embark on a rewarding lifelong career.
This role sits within the Careers Consultants team, one of several teams within the Directorate including Employer Engagement, Student Development, Unitemps and Information. Together these teams service the careers and employability needs of our students.
Responsibilities
This six-month, part-time Careers Consultant position (21 hours per week) sits within the Careers Consultant team and contributes to embedding career-focused learning and professional experience across the curriculum, ensuring every undergraduate is career ready. The role also involves delivering core careers activities, including one-to-one guidance and group sessions for students from all disciplines and levels.
Person Specification
A key aspect of the post is designing and delivering career-focused learning within academic modules and working closely with academic colleagues. You will apply pedagogical approaches to employability, deliver lectures to large student groups, and use learning design principles to create engaging, impactful content. Supporting students and graduates in developing their career plans will also be an important part of your work.
We welcome applicants with experience in careers advisory roles, as well as career changers who can demonstrate the relevant skills outlined in the job description. Strong knowledge of the UK graduate labour market and relevant professional experience are essential.
