The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) is one of the world’s leading public health universities. The Department of Infection Biology brings together pathogen molecular biology and immunology and infection research across the School. The Department benefits from state-of-the-art facilities and strong collaborations, many of which are with partners in disease endemic countries.
We are seeking to appoint a Research Fellow to join a research programme that applies advanced bioinformatic, statistical, and population genomic approaches to large-scale sequencing data from a range of bacterial and parasite pathogens, including Mycobacterium and Plasmodium species.
The postholder should have a postgraduate degree, ideally a doctoral degree, in a relevant discipline (e.g. molecular biology, bioinformatics, artificial intelligence or statistics), with strong computational skills and experience working with genomic or large-scale biological datasets. The post is full-time, 35 hours per week, 1.0 FTE and fixed term until 31 May 2028. The post is funded by the Wellcome Trust and is available from 01 June 2026.
The salary will be on the LSHTM salary scale, Grade 6 in the range £45,728 to £51,872 per annum pro rata (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London at LSHTM.
