About the Role
We are looking for a research assistant to join our PERSPECTIVES project team. PERSPECTIVES aims to explore diverse public perspectives in cancer screening and early diagnosis: generating evidence to support policy. It is a collaborative project led by QMUL and the Policy, Information and Communication Directorate at Cancer Research UK (CRUK). The work will focus on exploring perspectives in relation to early detection of prostate cancer and may explore issues including shared decision-making in prostate cancer testing, understanding of overdiagnosis and experience of diagnostic pathways.
Under the supervision of Dr Laura Marlow and working closely with a post-doctoral researcher you will contribute to the day-to-day research activities. This will include designing study protocols, developing ethics applications, collecting qualitative data, and disseminating findings. You will also support regular meetings with the wider research team, CRUK and our advisory panel, as well as ongoing PPI activities.
About You
Applicants should have a Masters (or be close to completion) in health psychology or another applied health-related social science. Excellent self-motivation and communications skills, experience of health-related social science research, qualitative data collection and analysis. Experience of using deliberative methods and of working with multiple stakeholders is desirable but not essential.

The Wolfson Institute of Population Health (WIPH) is an exciting and dynamic environment, home to 450 staff, 100 PhD students and 500 postgraduate taught students. It harnesses expertise across a wide range of population-based research and education activities and is an internationally recognised centre of excellence in population health, primary care and preventive medicine. The Institute is organised into six research centres which, though complementary and following the Institute’s strategic plan, also have Centre-specific objectives and requirements.
The postholder will be based in the Centre for Cancer Screening, Prevention and Early Diagnosis.
