About the Role
The principal duty of the post will be to undertake high-level lab-based work, developing the research program as outlined. The role includes data analysis and achieving a steady publications record that will enhance the Centre's research reputation at national and international level, clearly demonstrating originality and scholarship. The post holder will also undertake any other relevant activities related to the research project as appropriate.
About You
The successful candidate will hold a PhD (or be close to completion) in molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, bioinformatics, functional genomics or related discipline, plus an undergraduate degree (minimum upper second class honours).
We seek a researcher with high-level molecular biology skills, excellent cell culture knowledge, and competent computational analysis abilities. A suitable publication record, understanding of the research process, and evidence of advancing knowledge of diversity issues are essential.
The role requires strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to work independently and collaboratively, and analytical skills including genomics data analysis (ChIP-seq, RNA-seq, WGBS, WGS). The successful candidate will demonstrate attention to detail, rigour, willingness to learn new skills, and ability to organise work within project timetables while maintaining accurate records.
A flexible, professional approach is essential. The candidate must be eligible for NHS passport and experiments using cells from human tissues, and meet UK right to work requirements.
About the School/Department/Institute/Project
The Blizard Institute was established in 2003, one of six Institutes within the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, QMUL. The Institute comprises approximately 350 staff based in four academic Centres and one Public Engagement Centre and supports a combined total of c750 postgraduate research and taught students. The Institute aims to deliver excellence in all aspects of research, teaching and clinical service.
