Working as part of Vice Chancellors Office, you will be advising the Faculty of Engineering & Science (FES) on health and safety matters related to activities undertaken within the Schools of Science, Pharmacy, Engineering, Computing and Mathematical Sciences and the Natural Resources Institute.
The successful candidate will be part of a small but high performing team, providing competent health and safety advice, reviewing related risk assessments / codes of practice, conducting investigations into significant incidents, overseeing local workplace inspections, ensuring all H&S post holders complete relevant training to enable them to complete their tasks, and maintaining associated local records.
You will also oversee the work of the Faculty Health & Safety Managers for Education, Health and Human Sciences (FEHHS), Law, Arts and Social Sciences (FLAS) and Greenwich Business School (GBS); Helping all Faculties to meet and surpass their statutory obligations for health and safety, ensuring a psychologically safe working environment and maintaining the wellbeing of staff, students, contractors and visitors in support of the University’s Corporate Strategy.
The post holder will also act as a deputy to the Associate Director of Health and Safety on the Emergency Response Group.

Most of the faculty's activities occur at our Medway campus, which will be the primary location for your work during the week.
To be successful, you will have significant experience working as a health and safety professional within a scientific or engineering industry, reviewing and assessing H&S performance and using your excellent interpersonal and communication skills to achieve positive changes in practice. You will hold a relevant recognised Health and Safety qualification, to the minimum standard of NEBOSH Diploma / NVQ Level 5, or equivalent, and be able to provide a proactive and collaborative approach to all Health and Safety matters.
