Abertay is a modern university with a global outlook, rooted in its local and national communities. We have made our mark with high quality, well-directed teaching and research, and a stimulating and enriching experience for our students, recognised by our status as Scotland’s Top Modern University in the Guardian University Rankings 2026, and Top International School for Video Game Design for the 8th consecutive year, Princeton Review.
The International Recruitment and Partnerships Office (IRPO) is Abertay University’s central hub for global engagement. It enhances the University’s international profile, grows overseas student enrolments, and manages Abertay’s global academic partnership portfolio. By bringing together international recruitment, partnership development and Abertay Online, IRPO ensures all international activities are aligned, well managed and coordinated across the University.
IRPO leads targeted international recruitment activity to grow and diversify the on‑campus student population, working closely with Admissions, Marketing, Faculties and professional services to support applicants from enquiry to enrolment.
The Office also oversees Abertay’s international academic partnerships—including franchise, validation, joint delivery and articulation arrangements—which support the University’s transnational education (TNE) activity and expand access to Abertay programmes worldwide.
Abertay Online extends the University’s global reach through flexible, high‑quality digital programmes that support international growth.
To strengthen delivery across this expanding portfolio, a new International Operations Unit has been established. It will provide consistent processes, improves compliance and quality assurance, and offers coordinated operational support to IRPO, faculties and partners. This enables academic staff to focus on teaching and strategic partnership development, supporting sustainable global growth and a high‑quality experience for international students and partners.
The University now seeks to appoint an International Operations Manager to lead this unit. The postholder will oversee the smooth delivery of international student recruitment processes and the coordination of global academic partnerships, ensuring all activity runs efficiently and in line with University policies. Working with academic and professional services colleagues as well as overseas partners, the postholder leads the operations team, manages key compliance and quality‑assurance processes for TNE provision, resolves operational issues, and supports improvements to systems, workflows, and the student experience. The role also includes staff management, effective resource allocation, and ensuring both internal teams and partner institutions are well‑supported and appropriately trained.
The role requires a proactive self‑starter who can work independently, solve problems, and confidently initiate and coordinate activities across multiple teams. Cultural awareness, patience, and strong interpersonal skills are essential when engaging with international partners, agents, and prospective students who may be unfamiliar with the UK higher education system and Abertay’s processes. The IRPO environment is fast‑paced and demanding, and as the leader of the operations unit you will be expected not only to allocate and oversee the team’s work, but also to quickly identify process challenge and optimise solutions.
Before commencing employment with the University, you will be required to evidence your right to work in the UK. Further information on demonstrating your right to work can be found here: Prove your right to work to an employer: Overview - GOV.UK
