About the role

The Ashmolean Museum is seeking a Project Assistant to support the DIEGEST project, an international initiative developing a digital tool to transform ancient coin die studies.

You will prepare and quality-check coin image datasets and metadata, support testing of the DIEGEST tool, and help validate outputs against existing research. You will document findings, provide feedback to developers, and maintain well-organised project data. You will also assist in organising international workshops and contribute to project reporting, working within an interdisciplinary team.

This is a full-time, fixed-term (12 months) post.

About You

You will be completing or hold a master’s degree in Archaeology, Ancient History, Classics, or a related field, with knowledge of ancient coinage. You will have experience handling structured data, strong analytical skills, and excellent attention to detail.

You will be confident using spreadsheets and managing digital files, able to prioritise work effectively, and communicate clearly with a range of audiences. You will work well both independently and as part of a collaborative international team. Experience in numismatics, digital humanities, or research data management would be advantageous.
