Its Faculty of Medicine has 3,500 students and over 200 research groups. Together with the Geneva University Hospitals, it is a major centre for teaching, research and innovation in medicine and life sciences.
The Faculty's Section of Fundamental Medicine hosts the National Centre of Competence in Research « Evolving Language », which focuses on exploring the neural foundations of language and related higher cognitive functions in humans. The Faculty and the NCCR Evolving Language invite applications for a position within the Department of Basic Neurosciences :
Assistant Professor with Tenure Track or Associate Professor in computational neuroscience
Research interests of the successful candidate may include neural encoding of hierarchy in language, neural basis of compositional processing in language or compositional reasoning, neurocomputational principles of learning/memory systems supporting language. Applications from candidates whose research creates other meaningful connections between computational neuroscience and language are also welcome. Diverse methodological approaches will be valued, including evolutionarily- and biologically-plausible neural modelling.
The successful candidate will engage with the interdisciplinary research within the NCCR Evolving Language and strongly contribute to its scientific development and broader agenda. Administrative responsibilities within the Department of Basic Neurosciences and the Faculty of Medicine are expected, in addition to the NCCR-related administration.
Teaching at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels within the Faculty of Medicine, along with supervising Master’s and doctoral theses, will be part of the role.
REQUIREMENTS :
