Faculty Position (Open Rank) in Computer Science

POSITION DESCRIPTION

KIMEP University, a leading American-style university in Central Asia, invites applications for a full-time faculty position in the Department of Computer Science, School of Computer Science and Mathematics (SCSM), starting Fall 2026.

The School offers undergraduate programs in Computer Science and Information Systems and is committed to excellence in teaching, research, and innovation. Key Responsibilities:

• Teach undergraduate (and potentially graduate) courses in Computer Science and Information Systems
• Conduct high-quality research and publish in reputable venues
• Supervise student research and capstone projects
• Participate in curriculum development and program improvement
• Engage in university service, outreach, and student recruitment activities

Teaching Load:

The standard teaching load is 4 courses per semester (4+4 annually). Adjustments to the teaching load may be made based on research productivity, external funding, and administrative responsibilities. New faculty members receive a reduced teaching load during their first semester.

Preferred Research Areas (not limited to):

• Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
• Data Science and Big Data Analytics
• Cybersecurity
• Software Engineering
• Human-Computer Interaction 

Qualifications:

• PhD in Computer Science or a closely related field from an internationally recognized, accredited university.
• Applicants with 3–5 years of teaching experience in higher education are preferred; however, outstanding candidates with a recent PhD will also be considered.
• Demonstrated ability or strong potential for high-quality teaching and research.
• For senior ranks: established record of publications and academic service.
• Experience in innovative teaching methods and curriculum development is an advantage.
