Position overview:

The Lecturer/Senior Lecturer of Art and Design will deliver high quality education within their field of expertise within the Art and Design faculty. This role involves engaging and inspiring students through innovative teaching on Foundation and Bachelor courses, providing academic support and mentorship, contributing to curriculum development, and participating in administrative duties and outreach activities. The successful candidate will foster a stimulating and supportive learning environment. To be able to teach the following courses: Digital Media, Games Design and Development and Games Art. The Lecturer/Senior Lecturer will ensure that the university’s academic courses uphold the highest standards of excellence and align with the institution’s mission, values, and strategic goals.

Key responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and effective lessons to students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Utilise the teaching resources, schemes of work, and assessments from Coventry University UK and to adapt the materials where necessary, ensuring high quality lessons that meet the needs of all students.
  • Administer assessments to evaluate student progress and proficiency in subject area in line with Course Specifications and Module Descriptors from Coventry University UK.
  • Set, mark, and assess coursework and examinations. Provide timely and constructive feedback to students.
  • Comply with the quality assurance processes of pre-moderation, moderation and presenting grades at Assessment Boards.
  • Contribute to the development, planning, and implementation of a high-quality curriculum. Ensure course content is relevant and includes international and intercultural experiences.
  • Provide academic support and guidance to students through personal tutoring, scheduled office hours, email, and personal meetings. Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate projects and dissertations.
  • Engage in scholarly activity to ensure you are up to date, including conducting original research in your field of expertise and publishing research findings in reputable journals and presenting them at conferences.
  • Ensure compliance with university policies and procedures. Contribute to quality assurance processes, including module evaluations and student feedback.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A master’s degree or equivalent in a relevant academic discipline ideally from a UK university. 
  • Preferably a PhD degree ideally from a UK university.
  • Ideally, at least three years demonstrable experience in teaching at undergraduate, and possibly postgraduate, level in a relevant subject area in the UK.
  • Ability to deliver engaging and effective lectures, seminars, and tutorials. Proficiency in developing and using innovative teaching methods and materials.
  • Strong research skills, including the ability to design and conduct original research, analyse data, and publish findings.
  • Engagement in scholarly activity enhances teaching and learning. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively to students and colleagues.
