About Unlocked
Unlocked Graduates exists to break cycles of reoffending. Currently, prison is not able to do this, and nearly 45% of adults released from prison are reconvicted within a year. Not only does this make our communities less safe, but it also has a significant human and social impact. And it’s expensive, costing the taxpayer over £23bn every year. But, to a large extent, it’s preventable.
Prisons must give people the support they need to focus on rehabilitation. We believe the transformative relationships between prison officers and those in their care are key to this. Prison officers are the agents of change on the landings, and they are the only professionals able to reach all prisoners, including the most vulnerable. Since 2017, Unlocked has sought to lead this change by recruiting, training and challenging nearly 900 ambitious graduates to become outstanding prison officers and high performing leaders across 38 different prisons in England and Wales. Our award winning, two-year graduate leadership development programme is creating a generation of leaders who believe that rehabilitation is possible, breaking cycles of reoffending in prisons and throughout society.
Unlocked has put the prison officer role on the map as a career where people can develop extraordinary leadership skills whilst making a real difference. We have raised the status of the role, and we are recognised in the UK and internationally for the impact our participants are having on the landings.

About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to join Unlocked at what is a pivotal moment. As we enter our tenth year, we’re focused on proving and codifying the impact of our model – and this role sits at the heart of that work.
As Impact and Insights Manager, you’ll be involved in translating data and learning into powerful stories, leading the design and development of surveys, and the evaluation of our most recent innovation project, which applies our evidence-based leadership and training model to whole prison wings. Drawing on international best practice, we are testing whether informed and empowered staff teams can improve wellbeing and outcomes for people in prison.
How to apply
If you are interested in applying, please send your CV and a cover letter to Liam Fenn (Associate Director of Impact and Insights): liam.fenn@unlockedgrads.org.uk and Sarah Carney (Head of People and Culture): sarah.carney@unlockedgrads.org.uk
Closing date: Midday on Friday 24th April 2026.
Interviews to be held week commencing 27th April 2026.
The communities that we exist to serve are diverse, and to thrive in our work towards our mission, we must be too. We believe that inclusion of a genuinely diverse staff group makes our team stronger and this diversity should be celebrated. We therefore aim to create a workplace that is welcoming for all. We actively encourage applications from people who have been in prison.
