School of Pharmacy
Founded in 2026 the School of Pharmacy's vision is to be a contemporary and high performing School with excellence in education, professional credibility, strong student outcomes, and a clear external identity.
The Role
The University of West London is seeking to appoint an outstanding Professor of Pharmacy Practice to play a central role in the development of its new School of Pharmacy. Reporting to the Head of School of Pharmacy, this is a significant appointment for a senior academic and professional leader who is committed to excellence in pharmacy education, practice-based learning and clinical scholarship. The role offers a distinctive opportunity to help shape a new and ambitious School from an early stage, contributing to the design of its academic culture, the strength of its professional partnerships, and the quality and reputation of its provision.
We are seeking an individual with a strong professional identity in pharmacy practice and a clear commitment to preparing future pharmacists for contemporary and evolving healthcare environments. The successful candidate will provide academic leadership across pharmacy practice teaching, assessment and experiential learning, making a substantial contribution to the delivery, accreditation and continuous enhancement of the MPharm and related postgraduate and continuing professional development provision. They will play a key role in ensuring that the curriculum is professionally credible, educationally innovative and fully aligned with General Pharmaceutical Council standards.
The postholder is expected to build and sustain strategic relationships with NHS organisations, primary care, community pharmacy and other practice partners, helping to create a high quality and well supported placement portfolio that reflects workforce needs and service priorities. The postholder will also bring a visible profile in scholarship and research, contributing to the School’s growing reputation through external engagement and demonstrable impact on practice, policy or professional standards. The role combines academic leadership with real external influence and offers the chance to help define the School’s contribution to the profession and the communities it serves. We are seeking a candidate with the standing and credibility, able to work effectively across organisational boundaries, and contribute to the creation of a modern, inclusive and high performing School.
