Job description:

We have an exciting opportunity for an Imaging Technician to join the Sheffield Platform for Imaging Research in Oncology (SPIRO) at the University of Sheffield. SPIRO is a £4M+ Yorkshire Cancer Research funded initiative that aims to transform cancer diagnosis and treatment through advanced imaging technologies.

In this part-time role (two days per week), you will provide essential computational and technical support for our imaging research portfolio. You will curate and process multi-modal imaging data across MRI, PET, and CT, and run both classical image analysis pipelines and modern AI-based workflows for tasks including segmentation, registration, and image synthesis.

You will work with unique imaging infrastructure including Yorkshire’s only MRI-PET scanner and the North of England’s only Photon-Counting CT scanner. You will collaborate closely with the SPIRO Image Analysis and AI Scientist and the wider imaging research group, based at the University MRI Unit and the POLARIS Building.

We are looking for someone with a degree in a relevant discipline, strong programming skills (e.g. Python), and experience with image processing or analysis techniques. Familiarity with AI and deep learning methods is essential, and experience with medical imaging data formats would be advantageous.
