University Teacher in Criminology

This is an opportunity to join Criminology, Sociology and Social Policy at Loughborough University, part of the School of Social Sciences and Humanities.

Applications are invited from outstanding candidates with teaching interests across criminology and sociology. The candidate must have sustained experience of teaching in a range of classroom settings (lectures, tutorials, workshops for example). They will also have experience of designing, delivering and marking assessments. Candidates will be expected to contribute to all areas of the curriculum as required, including the delivery and development of BSc and MA programmes.

About the Department

The School of Social Sciences and Humanities is a diverse and inclusive School delivering excellence in learning and teaching, research, and enterprise across the Social Sciences and Humanities. Inter-disciplinarity and international encounters are fostered across six departments: Communication and Media; Criminology, Sociology and Social Policy; English; Geography and Environment; International Relations, Politics and History and Law. Loughborough’s Criminology, Sociology and Social Policy is recognized nationally and internationally for its excellence in research, teaching and enterprise. Criminology at Loughborough University is a top Criminology programme, ranked second in the UK by The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2026.

About You

  •  You should have subject expertise in one or more relevant areas, such as quantitative methods, criminological theory, criminal justice, policing, victimology, women and crime, violence, substance use, or crime and social welfare.
  • You should have a student-centered approach to student education demonstrating a commitment to enhancing the student experience
  • You should incorporate the principles of equity, diversity and inclusion in your teaching and academic citizenship
