About the role
As a Curriculum and Assessment Officer at BSMS, you will play a central role in delivering assessments across the medical programme. You will work closely with academic leads, examiners, administrators and clinical partners to ensure that all assessments are prepared, monitored and executed to an exceptional standard.
In this role, you will also take responsibility for key stages of the exam cycle- supporting question collation, formatting and quality‑assurance processes, assembling exam papers, and coordinating and delivering written exams.
You will act as a reliable point of contact for academic staff, students and external stakeholders, providing clear guidance on assessment processes, regulations and timelines. Working collaboratively with the wider Curriculum & Assessment Team, you’ll help maintain accurate assessment data, support exam boards, and contribute to ongoing process improvement.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast paced, structured, deadline‑driven environment and enjoys working with diverse colleagues to deliver fair, consistent, and well‑organised assessments.
Post will be based at the Audrey Emerton Building at the Royal County Hospital, Brighton.
About you
You will be an organised and proactive individual with strong planning, communication, and interpersonal skills. Able to work both independently and within a small team, you will manage your workload confidently using MS Office (particularly MS Excel) and other relevant digital systems.
You will bring good working knowledge of your specialist area, ideally with experience organising examinations or similar processes, producing clear documents and reports, managing results, and providing committee support. Strong attention to detail and good proofreading skills are essential.
Experience using systems such as Pebblepad, SITS, and similar is important, and you will be educated to degree level or have equivalent experience. An understanding of confidentiality, professionalism, and the need to work flexibly-especially during busy examination periods-will be key to success in this role. Experience in a university setting or similar environment would be an advantage.
