Competitive starting salary range from £38,781 up to £44,093 per annum (dependent upon experience) with the potential to progress. A discretionary range for candidates with exceptional experience can be discussed/considered

The Role

The School of Social Sciences and Humanities at Coventry University is recruiting for a Lecturer in Creative Writing to join our academic team. This full-time permanent post requires a passion for teaching together with experience of delivering courses in Creative Writing. Industry experience or creative and/or critical publications in one or more of the following areas would be advantageous: screenwriting, publishing, video games, graphic novels.

We are particularly interested in a candidate who will help with the evolution and development of the school’s Creative Writing provision at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. Someone who shares our vision to address the demands of teaching in the twenty-first century and who recognises the need for new ways of engaging with the subject and how this new pedagogy can be explored and developed creatively through new technologies. Knowledge of higher education processes is important and experience of teaching through workshops, seminars, lectures, and assessment is essential to the role.

Qualifications Required

  • Master’s degree in an appropriate subject or Honours Degree with appropriate professional qualification and/or membership
  • A teaching qualification or acceptance of the requirement to acquire one if not already held
  • PhD or active membership of an appropriate professional body would be advantageous
