Become a Research Contracts Officer at a World-Leading University Join our team as a Contracts Officer! Are you looking for an opportunity to play a key role in facilitating research at a world-class university?

We’re seeking someone with demonstrable legal experience and knowledge of English law to join our Research Contracts team. This is an ideal role for someone who is pragmatic, collaborative, and detail-focused, with excellent communication skills and a strong grasp of risk management. You’ll draft and review a diverse portfolio of contracts across a range of cutting-edge research and innovation projects. Driving innovation in fields such as aerospace engineering and life-saving cancer research, in this role you’ll negotiate with commercial, charity and government partners across the UK and the globe. You will act as a bridge between our academic community and external partners, ensuring that every agreement is robust, clear, and strategically aligned.

Your primary focus will be drafting and reviewing research contracts to protect the University’s interests and ensure legal compliance. We require a professional who possesses a proven ability in drafting and negotiating contracts, alongside practical experience in the law of England and Wales and a genuine passion for safeguarding intellectual property. Clear and effective communication is essential. You will develop positive relationships and offer concise advice to colleagues, promoting a collaborative atmosphere. As a self-motivated professional, you will manage a varied workload autonomously, prioritising tasks to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of our contract management processes.

We believe in continuous learning and development. You will stay updated on relevant legislation and regulations, supported by our commitment to your professional growth through training, networking, and development opportunities. You will also build strong relationships within your allocated faculty, ensuring they have the tools and information they need to access our services effectively.
