Lecturer in Psychology & Neuroscience (Part-time)

Boston University Study Abroad London is seeking an engaging and knowledgeable part‑time Lecturer in Psychology & Neuroscience to teach a new elective course as part of our Fall 2026 London Internship Programme. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a new course and teach motivated American undergraduates in small, discussion‑driven classes.

Drugs & Behaviour:

This new elective course explores psychoactive substances, their behavioural effects, and their neural mechanisms. Students will examine:

  • Brain circuitry, neurotransmission, and core concepts in addiction
  • Psychostimulants (e.g., cocaine, methamphetamine)
  • Nicotine and caffeine
  • Alcohol, sedatives, and anxiolytics
  • Opioids and cannabinoids
  • Psychedelic substances
  • Psychiatric medications

Teaching Schedule

  • Start date: Week of 12 October 2026
  • Format: 9‑week teaching block
  • Day: Mondays or Fridays (AM or PM)
  • Contact hours: 40 hours across 10 sessions
  • Assessment: Includes final exam coverage
  • End date: Friday 11 December 2026
  • Contract: Temporary, with potential for renewal

What We’re Looking For

We welcome applications from candidates who can demonstrate:

  • A PhD in Psychology and/or Neuroscience
  • A strong record of undergraduate teaching excellence
  • Experience with student‑centred, innovative pedagogy
  • Excellent cross‑cultural communication skills
  • Ideally, experience teaching international or Study Abroad students
