Hours: Full Time

The University of St Andrews is seeking an inorganic or materials chemist with expertise in high temperature electrolysis and/or heterogeneous catalysis. The project is funded through the Great British Chemicals consortium (https://greatbritishchemicals.ac.uk/) and will run for 36 months.

The role will involve the development of flexible processes that enable the conversion of a broad range of waste streams into chemical products via a synthesis gas (H2/CO) platform. Strategies for regulating a H2/CO supply ratio, using a combined approach of waste stream gasification and the co-electrolysis of CO2 and H2O, will be developed alongside multi-functional catalyst systems, which enable synthesis gas conversion and product upgrading in a single step. There will be excellent opportunities to engage with researchers across the consortium.

The successful candidate will join the research groups of Dr Paul Webb (pbw@st-andrews.ac.uk) and Prof John Irvine (jtsi@st-andrews.ac.uk) who can be contacted for further information.
