Senior Clinical Lecturers work as part of the General Practice Community Medical Education (GPCME) team. General Practice is a key specialty in undergraduate medical teaching at the University of Aberdeen, with a GP Enhanced Programme supported throughout the University and at a national level. This is an exciting time to consider a position within the GP teaching team, with significant activity maintaining existing strong community teaching and developing novel teaching methods.

This part-time, 40% FTE, Senior Years post is specific to lead Year 5 GP teaching and requires excellent organisational and communication skills. The applicant will develop strong relationships with numerous practices across different Health Boards in Scotland, providing GP clinical placements for students at the University of Aberdeen.

The successful candidate will be line managed by the Senior Years GP Strategic Lead and will work closely with the administration team to ensure the ongoing smooth running of student placements. This role will also involve working with the Year 4 GP Lead, existing GP Teaching Leads in NHS Highland and with colleagues from the wider MBChB university team.

There is significant work being done within the University of Aberdeen curriculum relating to Senior Years changes. This role involves supporting GP teaching colleagues to facilitate the delivery of clinical placement learning experiences for students in GP practices and integrating novel teaching approaches with real patients in a GP/Mental Health Teaching Centre.

The post requires some flexible work, and we would be happy to discuss how this can work for both those interested and the core team.

Salary will be at the maximum point on the clinical GP salary scale, 40% of £103,242 per annum, pro rata.

Informal enquiries should be made to Dr John McKeown, Head of Teaching General Practice & Community Medical Education (John.mckeown@abdn.ac.uk) or Dr Fiona Parker, Year 4 & Year 5 GP Strategic Lead (f.parker@abdn.ac.uk).

In accordance with the UKVI immigration rules, it is with regret that this role DOES NOT MEET THE SALARY REQUIREMENTS for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route. For this role, the successful candidate must be able to demonstrate their right to work in the UK prior to commencing employment and obtain the right to work in the UK.
