As a Functional Data Analyst, you will help shape the development of core student systems and services that support staff and students across the University. Your work will improve how data is used, trusted, and shared, supporting better outcomes across the student journey. A key focus of the role is supporting the delivery of the Central Data Hub, a major programme helping to simplify how data flows across the University. Working with colleagues across the University, you will help define and improve core student data, ensuring it is accurate, consistent, and fit for purpose.

You will bring experience of analysing data and systems in complex environments, along with the ability to balance day‑to‑day operational support with project delivery. You will be confident working with others to improve data quality and core systems, helping services to work better for everyone.

Key Responsibilities
The Functional & Data Analyst will:

  • Contribute to major strategic projects requiring specialist student data expertise, including the Central Data Hub initiative.
  • Improve and assure student data quality through effective data governance, standards, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide expert functional and data analysis support for core student systems, including maintenance, enhancement, and issue resolution, ensuring continuity of business‑critical activity.

About the Department
The Academic Registry supports students and staff across the University of Salford by delivering core academic and administrative services including admissions, student records, timetabling, and academic quality assurance. The Registry aims to deliver a seamless, student-centred service that operates effortlessly in the background, allowing students and staff to focus on what truly matters.

The Student Data & Systems Team is responsible for the quality, reliability, and effective use of student data, and for supporting the systems that enable key academic processes. The team works closely with colleagues across the University to support day‑to‑day service operation and the delivery of system and process improvements.
