British Heart Foundation (BHF) is the UK’s largest independent funder of cardiovascular research. Through our extensive portfolio of active research projects, we fund some of the most exciting and innovative cardiovascular research, supporting outstanding scientists from PhD students through to BHF Professors.
As a Research Advisor, you’ll play a pivotal role in bringing our research strategy to life and support the discovery of new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat heart and circulatory disease.
You’ll primarily support all aspects of our personal awards, this includes advising applicants, reviewing funding applications and providing clear, constructive feedback. You’ll carry out due diligence on both project proposals and funded awards, whilst also support the Discovery Research Fellowships Committee by contributing to peer review processes and committee meetings.
Working arrangements
This is a hybrid role, where your work will be split between your home and at least one day per week, on average, in our London Office. This may vary from time to time, so you will need to work in a flexible way to unlock your best work for our cause.
About you
With a strong knowledge and understanding of BHF, our mission and the importance of research, you’ll bring substantial research experience gained in academia and/or a related sector. You’ll be a proactive and collaborative team member, with excellent attention to detail and well‑developed analytical and interpersonal skills.
You’ll have outstanding communication, prioritisation and organisational skills, able to manage multiple deadlines effectively. Acting as an ambassador for BHF and its research achievements, you’ll be able to confidently promote BHF and its research funding schemes to a wide range of audiences.
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual with relevant experience and interests to make a meaningful contribution to the mission of one of the world’s leading funders of cardiovascular research.
In addition, you will also have:
Our people are at the heart of everything we do. By funding research across six decades, we’ve helped keep millions of hearts beating and millions of families together. We’re investing in ground-breaking research that will get us closer than ever to a world where everyone has a healthier heart for longer.
Interview process
First‑stage interviews will be held via Microsoft Teams on Wednesday 27th and Thursday 28th May. The interview will include a presentation and a grant assessment exercise. A second‑stage interview may be required and would take place in person at our London offices.
