The midwifery teaching team participate in teaching, assessing and supporting pre and post registration midwifery students and those from health and social care programmes across the School.

About you

You will bring a high level of insight into contemporary midwifery practice, alongside experience of practice‑based education, enabling you to support students effectively across academic and practice settings.

You will have a sound knowledge of current policy, professional standards, and the theories and concepts that underpin midwifery practice and education. Registration as a midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) is essential. You will have achieved, be working towards, or be willing to undertake a Master’s degree in a health‑ or education‑related discipline, and you will be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to continuing professional development relevant to your role. You will also hold, or be willing to work towards, a recognised postgraduate qualification in higher education.

At Lecturer or Senior Lecturer level, the role carries a strong focus on teaching excellence. This includes the design and delivery of engaging, inclusive and innovative learning experiences, achieving positive student outcomes, and undertaking high‑quality research.

Where is this role based?

In this role, you’ll be based at our Glenside Campus

You’ll spend most of your time on campus, typically 3 days per week, with the opportunity to work from home on the remaining days.
