We are looking for a Research Assistant to join a project on young people’s social media use and how it relates to mental health outcomes.
We are based at University College London (UCL), in the Research Department of Clinical, Educational and Health Psychology (CEHP), part of the Division of Psychology and Language Sciences, which ranked 2nd worldwide for Psychology in the latest Times Higher Education rankings by subject.
About the role
This is a full-time (1.0 FTE) fixed-term post until March 2028. Together with the project lead, Dr Alex Lloyd, and in collaboration with Professor Jonathan Roiser, the Research Assistant will contribute to a new study examining how social media use relates to mental health outcomes in young people. This role will primarily involve in-person data collection at schools and at UCL with young people aged 13-24.
We are seeking a motivated individual with experience of data collection in schools and platforms such as Gorilla.sc. The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal and organisational skills to liaise with schools to arrange data collection.
This role is eligible for hybrid working (minimum 60% on site), with occasional travel to data collection sites.
The role will be paid at salary Grade 6B between 39,148 - 40,805 per annum.

About you
The candidate will hold a degree in psychology or related field. They will have experience with quantitative research and familiarity with software needed for data collection (specifically Gorilla.sc). Experience with young people or other vulnerable groups, alongside knowledge of ethical and safeguarding practices, is essential.
They will bring excellent organisational skills to coordinate project activities. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required, with the ability to liaise with schools, study participants and co-production groups, and to disseminate research to diverse audiences.
