Clinical Researcher: Metabolic Psychiatry

The Department has a substantial research programme, with major funding from Medical Research Council (MRC), Wellcome Trust and National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) and provides highly rated medical training in psychiatry.  The Head of Department is Professor Belinda Lennox.

We are seeking to appoint a Clinical Researcher to join the KALM trial, a 12-week randomised controlled trial, led by Dr Amedeo Minichino investigating the ketogenic diet as a novel intervention for individuals at clinical high risk for psychosis. 

About the Role 

The post is funded for 12 months and is based in the Department of Psychiatry at the Warneford Hospital. Due to the nature of the role, flexible working is not available for this post 

You will join a multidisciplinary team across psychiatry, dietetics, neuroscience and data science, contributing to all stages of the KALM trial. You will coordinate recruitment and data/sample collection across sites, conduct structured clinical assessments, and work with academic, NHS and industry collaborators. The role also includes data curation and analysis, dissemination of findings, and training in experimental and computational method 

The post offers excellent clinical exposure and would suit to a psychiatry or neurology trainee interested in a clinical academic career 

About You 

You will hold a medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) with GMC registration and have completed Foundation Training in the UK and have a strong knowledge of good clinical practice. With a strong interest in neuropsychiatric research, you will have experience of working with individuals with psychotic disorders and be able to engage effectively with participants and collaborators. 

Experience in clinical or psychiatric research including sample collection for research purposes would be desirable.
