Salary
Appointment to the Consultant scale (including salary point) will be subject to meeting the required criteria for consultant level practice and leadership. Candidates who do not meet these criteria will be appointed at an appropriate SAS grade, with salary aligned to clinical experience and demonstrated leadership responsibility.
The Role
Accountable to the Director of Education-Clinical and Head of School, based in the School of Medicine (Faculty of Medical Sciences), to provide clinical and academic leadership to the MBBS programme whether delivered in Newcastle, across the Regional Medical School and in NUMed Malaysia. The postholder will be a member of the Board of Medical Studies, responsible for a key area of MBBS leadership, working under the direction of the Director of Education-Clinical and Head of School, as well as the Director of Education-Academic.
This is an exciting time to join the MBBS Senior Team as it embarks on a refreshed programme strategy to deliver a distinctive Newcastle medical degree that prepares our graduates to meet the challenges of the future. You will be joining a welcoming, cohesive team that is supportive and constantly seeking to innovate and improve. In recent years we have introduced important initiatives such as Programmatic Assessment, Longitudinal Integrated Placements, Citizenship schemes and a Patients as Partners Programme.
The posts have significant time allocated to recognise the substantial nature of the role, and applications are welcome from senior clinicians from a variety of professional backgrounds. Clinical academic postholders must maintain a minimum of 4 permanent clinical sessions to retain clinical credibility.
