Programme Manager - Health and Social Care

Purpose

Scholars School System is seeking to appoint a Programme Manager - Health and Social Care to play a key role in supporting the direction of the School, providing vision, direction and inspirational operational leadership and championing the enhancement of education for the health and social care portfolio across all campuses.  

The Programme Manager will support the Associate Deans, Professional Services and Heads of Department team to provide operational leadership to SSS activities and ambitions with a strong emphasis on teaching, learning and related activities to support student academic experience within Heath and Social Care across all campuses in promoting success for all students. 

Working with colleagues across the organisation to sustain and support SSS in meeting its key objectives and targets. Actively role model the expected leadership values and behaviors, promoting a culture of equality, diversity, inclusion and environmental sustainability.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for Health and Social Care programmes across all campuses, ensuring high standards of academic quality, consistency, and excellence.
• Take overall responsibility for curriculum design, learning outcomes, teaching plans, programme structure, and the quality of teaching and learning delivery in line with organisational and regulatory requirements.
• Ensure programmes meet academic standards, professional body requirements, and quality assurance benchmarks.
• Lead the enhancement of teaching and learning by applying scholarship, academic practice, and sector best practice, including oversight of module leadership, assessment strategies, and continuous improvement.
• Champion innovation in pedagogy, including the effective use of digital technologies and resources to enhance the student learning experience and promote student partnership.
• Provide clear and effective leadership to academic teams, promoting collegiality, high performance, and a shared commitment to excellence.
• Line manage and support academic staff within the subject area, including performance management, mentoring, and professional development.
• Foster strong collaboration across campuses and departments to ensure consistency and a cohesive academic culture.
• Take overall responsibility for the student academic journey, including recruitment, retention, progression, attainment, and outcomes.
• Ensure the accurate maintenance of student records and monitor performance data to inform timely interventions and continuous improvement.
• Lead the operational delivery of programmes, including resource planning, timetabling, and compliance with institutional processes.
• Act as the primary academic contact for partner institutions, maintaining effective and collaborative relationships.
• Chair programme-related committees, contribute to School Boards and working groups, and ensure timely preparation and submission of reports on programme performance and delivery against targets.
• Work closely with senior management to ensure alignment, sharing, and implementation of best practice and innovation across the institution.
• Take ownership of programme monitoring, review, and continuous improvement processes in line with internal and external quality assurance frameworks.
• Promote and embed equality, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of programme delivery, ensuring staff and students feel valued and have a strong sense of belonging. 

Requirements

• Significant years’ experience working within a Higher Education setting within the United Kingdom Education preferably universities and private institutes
• PHD/EDD in health and social care related desirable
• Must have higher education teaching qualification PGCE/AFHEA/FHEA
• Relevant and current professional registration
• Previous experience of module leadership and associated activities
• Ability to think creatively and with vision and the willingness to suggest and try new and creative approaches to problems.
• A commitment to creating an environment for students to thrive, that is inclusive, promotes equality and supports diversity.
• Ability to provide and respond to constructive feedback, monitoring and addressing performance, and building trust and teamwork.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including an ability to express ideas clearly both verbal and written.
• Proficiency in using virtual learning environments (e.g., Moodle, Canvas), digital tools, and blended learning methodologies
• Knowledge of formative and summative assessment methods, marking criteria, and feedback strategies that support student learning
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly to varied audiences. 

Terms of Employment.

• Salary range is £55,000 - £60,000.

• Basic hours are 40 per week working on site
• Travel may be required; all expenses reimbursed
• Holiday entitlement is 28 days annual leave plus bank holidays
• 3% annual increase per year (subject to performance and KPIs)

This role may involve travel to other campuses, with all travel costs reimbursed.
