The Faculty of Divinity, invites applications for a new fixed-term appointment as a Teaching Associate in the field of Medieval Islamic Philosophy for 12 months from 1 September 2026 until 31 August 2027.
The successful candidate will be required to contribute to teaching and examining in Islamic Studies and Qur'anic Arabic at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. Their primary task will be to give 8 hours of lectures and two classes for paper C9 (Islam II) and to co-ordinate the delivery of that paper. They will also be asked to provide 4 hours of language teaching for the Part IIA and IIB papers in Qur'anic Arabic, and to offer a module (4 x 2-hour seminars) for the MPhil, in the area of Medieval Islamic Philosophy. They will be asked to supervise and examine essays and dissertations for the MPhil as required, to co-ordinate the studies of MPhil students in Medieval Islamic Philosophy, to contribute to access and outreach work, and to participate in admissions work for the MPhil.
Candidates must have a PhD in Medieval Islamic Philosophy and have experience in teaching and examining at undergraduate and postgraduate level. The person appointed will be based in the Faculty of Divinity in Cambridge.
