About the Role

In this key executive role, you will have autonomy for all aspects of the Faculty’s strategic direction and its future positioning in regional, national and international contexts. Reporting to the Pro Vice Chancellor Academic and working as part of the executive team, you will have the opportunity to help shape the wider University’s strategic objectives.

As Executive Dean, you will apply your strategic understanding of higher education and professional practice to expertly drive and balance priorities for teaching, research excellence and student support. You will play a key role in refining the Faculty’s partnership base and meeting the needs of external stakeholders.

About You

In this role, you will bring substantial senior leadership and management experience within a higher education environment, along with a strong understanding of current and emerging sector agendas, particularly within Health, Social Care & Medicine. You will lead, manage and motivate a diverse team of academic and professional support colleagues to deliver a first-class student experience. You will have strategic oversight of the development and delivery of high-quality teaching across the faculty, alongside responsibility for effective governance aligned  with institutional  structures and policy.

To be successful, you will demonstrate strong leadership and management at a senior level in a higher education environment, coupled with a highly developed understanding of current and emerging agendas and policy issues in higher education, particularly within the context of the Faculty of Health, Social Care & Medicine. 

The ideal candidate will have an emerging national and/or international standing within a relevant academic discipline or policy arena, with a track record of providing strategic leadership that shapes research, policy, and professional agendas.
